We were blessed with an angel who showed us how to love and be loved for 7 years. Her name was Dinendri and for us that meant sunshine, My sunshine, as our Dini shined wherever she went and in whatever she did.
She was loved, very much and she in turn loved us.
She simply adored books and would spend hours flipping through encyclopaedias about dinosaurs, space, and animals. She had an incredible imagination and would create her own world through clay modelling, Lego type toys and by countless hours of drawing.
To watch her grow up to realize her dreams as ‘a doctor and an artist’ was our happiness.
To celebrate the exceptional and intelligent life she lived, we envision to create a haven for children in Sri Lanka who would benefit from an escape hatch; to broaden their horizons, spread their wings and take flight to the lands of their imagination or the science of the cosmos.
We hope her life would be celebrated by creation of an environment to inspire young hearts that beat, to develop and metamorphosize into men and women worthy to be called wise, who would be leaders and superheroes of tomorrow and most importantly grow to be kind-hearted and giving souls, spreading love and happiness, making a difference in the world.
To provide a safe space for children of the community to develop the ability to read and interact with learning material, to cultivate a love for learning and illumination of the mind.
We aim to build a state-of-the-art learning hub which would include a library section, complete with a reading corner, a mini-Lego land and a hand work/craft area, a tech sphere with state-of-the-art smart screens and a few iPads and headphones at selected orphanages and primary schools in Sri Lanka.
It is hoped that this will entice the children to venture into the hub and engage in learning in different forms, model their dreams and hopes through creations and travel in time and space through the magical world of books, while seated in comfort at the hatch.
